An FYI

Mary Brunelle - Cataloger/Reference Librarian, d'Alzon Library

Here’s an interesting site in the Newslink newsletter from Information Today: Academia.edu

There’s not much on the site for Assumption (just the Communications Department), but I searched BU for example, and there are bunches of people and bunches of papers and research topics. It’s really quite interesting.
Academia.edu is a recently launched website that enables graduate students and academics to create academic webpages and to find other academics around the world with the same research interests. The new collaborative site www,academia.edu does two things: It shows academics around the world structured in a "tree" format, displayed according to their departmental and institutional affiliations, and it enables academics to see news on the latest research in their area—the latest people, papers, and talks. The service is free at this time.
